Samara Bay, Rebecca Zung, David Minor and Jean Batthany took the stage at the IMA Members Lounge in Culver City for a night themed "Interconnected." We shot all four talks and cut three: multicam edits, motion graphics and color, delivered to the TEDx Talks YouTube channel. Samara Bay's talk was named a TEDx Editor's Pick, a selection TED's editors make from thousands of TEDx talks.
Discover the Story
A TEDx talk has nothing to hide behind. It's one speaker and a room that either leans in or doesn't. The edit's job is to stay out of the talk's way and cut on the moment the idea lands.
Craft the Experience
We placed Blackmagic cameras for full coverage without putting an operator in a speaker's eyeline or blocking the audience's view. Then audio, and lighting that held up across four speakers with four very different presences.
Three of the talks came to us for post. Multicam cuts that track each speaker's energy without calling attention to themselves, then graphics and color matched to one look across the night. The last stretch was rounds of notes with speakers and organizers, protecting the pacing while making sure every speaker was proud to put their talk out.
